A Decade Of Pop: 2010
2019.09.20 01:21 KLJohnnesA Decade Of Pop: 2010
So, since we are a few months from 2020. I'll be doing a series called A Decade Of Pop. Basically a compilation of the most important hits, debuts, albums and legends of the decade. Also, this was really hard to do so don't wait for 2011 to come soon but by the end of the year we will get every year. 2010 3OH!3 - My First Kiss Not impactful, still another hit for Kesha and the last drop of relevancy that 3OH!3 (What a hard name to type) had. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs One of the most controversial AOTY of the decade, yet, not the first. Due to the Grammys being weird about deadlines, Taylor Swift actually has that title with Fearless. The Fame Monster should have won though. B.o.B. - Nothin On You / Airplanes He literally was everywhere, It’s pretty similar to Cardi. Came out of nowhere, didn’t stop releasing hits. He holds the title of Bruno Mars’ debut single which went #1. Also worthy mentioned his collab with Hayley Williams on Airplanes. Black Eyed Peas - The Beginning / The Time / Just Can’t Get Enough Still riding the massive destruction that The E.N.D. had, BEP was able to get themselves two top 5 hits. Bruno Mars - Doo-Wops & Hooligans / Just The Way You Are / Grenade / The Lazy Song / Talking To The Moon If with B.o.B. Bruno was able to get a #1, alone he was able to get two. Three if you count Talking To The Moon only charting and hitting #1 on Brazil. Christina Aguilera - BionicThis album refine what flop means at that time. Didn’t hit #1, didn’t entered the top 10. Now it’s being seen as ahead of its time and underrated. I guess it’s up to your own opinion on it. Drake - Debut Album Thank Me Later Drake’s debut, only cracked the top 10 with Find Your Love. Duffy - Endlessly Duffy’s sophomore record. It had such a difference take than her first one that remains her last album release. Emily Osment - Fight or Flight / Let’s Be Friends and LovesickWell, she tried. Eminem - Recovery / Not Afraid / Love The Way You Lie Not Afraid and Love The Way You Lie gave Eminem new highs on his career making his debut into the decade, Recovery, a real strong one and a great transition in keeping his relevance from the 2000’s to the 2010’s. Far East Movement / Dev - Like a G6 Well, bitch, talk about classic. This is the song it’s going to be played in a party a few decades from now as a throwback and you’ll be embarrassing your kids for dancing and screaming the lyrics (Who am I kidding), correcting, screaming Dev’s verse at the top of your lungs. Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid ALBUM OF THE YEAR, Janelle’s highly praised debut and a mark for afrofuturism in the 2010’s culture. This little lady in a suit changed the world and little attention was given to it. This is a must listen to everyone in the world. Justin bieber - My World 2.0 / Baby / Somebody To Love Justin’s debut and similar to Drake, was really successful yet not even close to their peaks. Baby, a love it or hate it song, didn’t even hit #1 on the Hot 100. I could not believe it. Shout Out to Somebody To Love, a less annoying song that showcase his early talent. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy / All The Lights / Monster / Runaway It’s really hard to describe the amount of impact this album had. Kanye’s magnum opus, filled with features, polemics and a breakdown of why he’s one of the most talented artists of this generation. No one could produce this album other than him. None of the singles cracked the top 10 yet, they are all impactful on their on way. Katy Perry - Teenage Dreams / 5 #1 Katy’s untouchable phase. Teenage Dream was released having 3 out of the 5 #1 happening in 2010, the year ended with Firework at the top of the charts. What a way to end such a strong beginning of a decade. Kesha - Animal and Cannibal / Tik Tok Kesha worked double releasing Animal and Cannibal both at the beginning and end of the year, Tik Tok was the first #1 of the decade remaining in that position till the end of february and We R Who We R debuted in #1. Talk about a powerhouse. Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite / All The Lovers Aphrodite was to Kylie what Confessions was to Madonna. A huge impactful “Hey, you better look at me cause I’ll never stop being the best”. Everything in this album cemented Kylie as the icon that she is. It’s really a beautiful crafter pop album and one of the best of the decade. All The Lovers was the biggest hit in it and the video reminded everyone why Kylie’s videography is as important as it is. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now Released in 2010, the album was nominated for AOTY and had the hit Need You Now in it, a great crossover of country hitting #2 on the charts. Lady Gaga - Telephone and Alejandro Telephone remains as a historic pop song for featuring two of the biggest name of all time in a song together. The video was so fucking iconic that still is referenced to this date. Alejandro also deserves its place on this list, holding Gaga’s first controversy against religion, beautiful video and one of the best works of both Gaga and Steven Klein. Lana Del Ray - Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzie Grant Lana's official debut depending on how do you see it. She looked gorgeous in the cover and the tracks showcase a glimpse of how far she would come in her career. Mariah Carey - Merry Christmas II You Securing her place as the Christmas Queen, Mariah released the follow up to Merry Christmas. Iconic. Marina and The Diamonds - The Family JewelsCurrently Marina. The Family Jewels was a weird album but still a great one. Marina walked so your tumblr girl phase could run. Filled with Marina’s most iconic singles and one of the most unique writings of pop music. Still holds up if you want to give it a try. Maroon 5 - Hands All Over Well, I guess they deserve a nod. Not a bad album, not a great one. Misery was a weird song to be a lead but the video looked realistic. Miley Cyrus - Can’t Be Tamed Miley’s third album and her first step into freedom. Can’t Be Tamed hit #8, Who Own My Heart failed to chart. Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday50 K for a verse no album out. Well, not true anymore cause Nicki has officially debuted. None of the singles cracked the top 10, in 2010, we’ll have to wait for me to talk about it. PINK - Raise Your Glass Some people can call it Pink’s last interesting work. I do. Her last #1, so far. Great video. Rihanna - Loud Three #1 and two of Rihanna’s biggest hits. Hold as her best record till ANTI came along. Iconic cover, iconic hair. If GGGB introduced Rihanna’s a main pop girl, Loud cemented Rihanna as the icon that she is now. Selena Gomez and The Scene - A Year Without Rain Back when Selena was part of a band. Nothing much to say since it wasn’t as successful as her debut or her most recent album but it’s worth mentioning that A Year Without Rain (single) is indeed a great track, and to release a ballad for someone who wasn’t taken seriously as an artist was an important step in Selena Gomez’s career. I’d say if this wasn’t released as a single, Demi’s Skyscraper wouldn’t have been released. Shakira - Sale El Sol Shakira is now back to her earlier image and what a return. Loca become so huge on America Latin it was inescapable. Taylor Swift - Speak Now Entirely self written, Taylor’s third record holds a special place in her career, a beautiful transition between her teen years to adulthood. Could be called I’m not a girl, not yet a woman. Dear John, Mine and Back To December shout out to you. Usher - OMG Usher’s last #1, so far. Now some important awards. Grammy’s Album Of The Year: Taylor Swift - Fearless Grammy’s Recording Of The Year: Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody Grammy’s Song Of The Year: Beyonce - Single Ladies Grammy’s Best New Artist: Zac Brown Band MTV’s Video Of The Year: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance CMA’s Entertainer Of The Year: Brad Paisley Academy Awards For Best Original Song:Mariah CareyToy Story - We Belong Together
2017.09.24 02:13 DGenerationMCFixing Entourage (the last 4 seasons and the movie)
Alright, I'll admit it. I'm a huge fan of Entourage. I personally think Ari Gold is one of the most entertaining TV characters of all time and the show overall was just pure fun to watch. No matter what he did, it was awesome and actually sometimes I think the show should've been about him rather than a uninteresting famous actor and his hanger-on friends. But, I'll get to that later with the movie. After Season 4, Entourage stopped growing, nothing mattered. I know it's weird to say, but it became a shell of itself with the same crap: endless celeb cameos, random whores popping up got old, just living the good life with no consequences. It's understandable that the show was overshadowed by it's counterparts on HBO at the time like The Sopranos and The Wire, but the quality gap between them was ridiculous. Obviously, Entourage was completely different in tone and goals, but it should've been more, nonetheless. So, looking back, it's completely justified if the show is crapped on and completely forgotten about. I respect Doug Ellin's vision about Entourage not being a good show but his show, however, it could've and should've been better. Mind you, this was all before Game of Thrones. How many times did Vince and E stop being friends, only to make up a couple of episodes later? Speaking of Vincent Chase, how is the supposed main character of the show THE LEAST INTERESTING? How we can love and appreciate Superman if he's never in danger? And the movie didn't do squat, it was an extended episode of a TV show people didn't care about. Well, I am going to fix all of that. Season 5
For the uninitiated or those who forgot, Season 4 saw Vince have his first big movie flop in Medellin, losing a lot of money as he worked behind the scenes on the film as well as star in it. The end result is the film getting panned after being released at the Cannes Film festival, leaving the Entourage crew embarrassed and looking to bounce back as we begin Season 5
We start off as we did in real life, the media slamming Medellin and Vince MIA on an island somewhere with a beard, broads and a little paradise of his own. Ari is desperate to get Vince back on track and with E's help, barely convinces Chase to return to work in Hollywood
As it turns out, Vince can't take rejection or failure that well as he is a famous pretty boy and is completely unmotivated. This leads to Vince passing on projects and eventually getting kicked off the set of Smoke Jumpers, the one he randomly signed on for to get people off his back. Things come to a head when Ari and other big wigs are brought in to presumably fire the director Vince had issues with, but it's revealed that the movie star was the problem, not his director, so Vince is taken off the project. With his reputation in Hollywood on the ropes and adopting a drug habit to boot, those close to him are pushed away while the drug secret remains a secret. Ari and E pull some serious strings in the final episode and are able to get Vince a last ditch 1-on-1 meeting with a huge name to save his comeback at a bar in his old Queens neighborhood. The mystery man is none other than Martin Scorsese, who wants Vince in his remake of The Great Gatsby. Vince is loaded, so the meeting goes horribly, sending his last chance up in smoke
Being the ever present lackey, Turtle continues to benefit from Vince's friend as he tagged along for the "vacation" in-between seasons and is too caught up in the good life to prevent Vince's fall from grace, being his primary enabler while keeping Drama from confronting Vince for most of the season
Vince's older brother, Drama, continues chugging along in hope of finally catching a big break. He tries to intervene in his brother's troubles, but is told off and called a "failure" before losing contact with Vince
Ari starts to grow worried about Vince's troubles throughout the season but also has to contend with gaining even more power as an Hollywood exec. As usual, he tasks E with setting Vince straight so the Ari-Vince confrontation/intervention doesn't happen yet
Probably the most damaging thing to Vince's well-being was the absence of E, who was trying to prove that he wasn't a hanger-on by becoming an agent himself. He lands his only client a TV role by the end of the season, but is too late to save Vince, his best friend, from destroying himself. The two have a huge blowup in the final scene of the season in Queens following the Scorsese meeting, as Vince seemingly quits acting and stays in Queens, as E has had enough of his best friend's attitude and will no longer clean up his messes, going back to LA
Vince is back in Queens, living with and taking care of his mother. She gets him a job at somewhere low-key like a flower shop where she also works at and runs herself. Despite doing her best to keep an eye on her son, Rita is unaware that Vince sneaks around getting high. This comes from when he meets some old friends (specifically Kara, an old flame) from the neighborhood (who are rougher and tougher than his main crew of E, Turtle and Drama), getting involved with petty crimes. As his addiction gets worse, the crimes' seriousness elevates.
As in real life, Lloyd (Ari's longtime gay-Asian assistant/confidant) leaves for a rival agency and as expected, Ari goes on a warpath to make him pay. Won't change a thing about this arc
With Vince gone and not coming back, E is free to dive into growing his brand and climbing the agent ladder, moving out of his crappy small office and getting hired by Murray Berenson Company. While Ari blames him for Vince's downfall, E could care less and wants to prove his worth as his own man
Turtle is all broken up about Vince leaving and begins to be lazier than usual, as even Drama wants nothing to do with him until a chance meeting with his biggest crush, Jamie Lynn-Sigler. He gets his shit together and they date, getting some headlines of his own. At the end of the season, Jamie moves on to focus on her career but Turtle is inspired to make it on his own
Drama's arc of being on the Five Towns show and leaving due to trouble with an NBC exec is slightly tweaked. Instead of wanting to sleep with Jamie through Drama, the exec begins to hold a grudge against Drama due to him being the brother of Vince, who once humiliated the exec by refusing to appear on one of his shows. Drama decides enough is enough and stands up to the tormentor, resulting in him getting fired. Down on his luck, Drama is saved when Lloyd keeps him on as a client and gets him his own animated show with Andrew Dice Clay
Despite the bad blood with Lloyd, Ari finally shows respect for him and finally offers a job as an agent. The season doesn't end on a high note as Ari finally tracks down Vince in Queens. The two briefly talked a couple of times throughout the season over the phone, but Vince told Ari that he was simply "taking time off to clear his head" and would eventually return. This was only done so Ari wouldn't come visit Vinc personally and have to hear from Vince's own mouth that he doesn't want to act anymore. In the final episode, Vince comes home early one night after refusing to do an illegal job, avoiding his so called "friends". He walks into the house to see his mother and Ari waiting for him in a intervention, revealing they know about Vince's drug problems but not his crime life. Vince turns around to leave but Ari tracks him down a block away. The tense and kinda sad reunion is cut short mid-sentence when Vince is arrested as TMZ cameras capture it all. Ari desperately tries to talk to the cops, but they ignore him as Vince's ashamed mother and the neighborhood he grew up in watches on
We find out that Vince is being accused of murder, and Kara is the eye-witness. The murder occurred on the same night Vince was arrested and happening after Vince fled. Apparently it was an armed robbery Vince wanted no part of, which led to him running home despite threats from Kara's male friends. Kara puts Vince at the scene of the crime (exactly 1 hour before returning home) and his prints on the murder weapon (forcibly placed in Vince's hand before he left but did not use), but Vince gets overly emotional and claims she's lying. While the evidence/witness isn't 100% reliable, Vince is convicted and sent to prison
Vince time in prison is a rough go at first, as he is a pretty boy and can't really fight. His mouth almost immediately gets him into trouble as he gets his ass kicked early on. Before things can get worse, a group of inmates (who have been in love with him for years) run by Dom (an old friend from Queens who popped up in Season 2) defend Chase and watch his back. Eventually, Vince earns other prisoners' respect by persuading the warden to give them some kind of perk, an ode to Shawshank Redemption. No one visits Vince (E doesn't want to see him and Vince refuses everyone's requests to see him) except Sloan, who is E's ex-girlfriend and the daughter of Ari's mentor, Terrance. There is some kind of romantic connection between the two hinted, but it could just be harmless flirting as they go way back. While in jail, Vince connects with (current and former) drug addicts, who help him through the inmate substance abuse counseling program
For the most part, Ari's season 7 remains intact (gaining more power) besides the fact that his wife threatens to leave him a year earlier than IRL, giving him the season to prove that he'll be a better husband. Based off of how S6 ended, Ari tries to call Vince in jail but Vince never picks up, ashamed out how he let Ari down
E's reputation starts to grow his as a new, more personable and honest type of agent compared to what Hollywood is known for. Since his entrance into show business was not typical, several big name clients want to be represented by him, including Eminem and Sasha Grey, who voice their dislike (Eminem) and like (Sasha) for Vince in regards to him possibly getting out of prison to make a comeback. This gains the attention of the now retired Terrance, who fired Air years ago after a failed takeover in Season 2. He begins to help Eric and give him advice, trying to lure him under his wing like he did Ari many years before, even filling the thought of E being better than Ari into his head. This is surprising as Terrance thought very little of E for years (he actually wanted Sloan to be with movie star Vince) and this sudden assistance was planned to get Sloan and E back together, as Terrance believes he is finally worthy, and to screw with Ari. Offended and pissed off upon finding out, E tells Terrance off only to run into Sloan. An argument ensues after Sloan lets it slip that she visited Vince in jail. This supports E's long had theory/fear that the love of his life once slept with his more handsome, successful best friend. If there's one thing E hates, it's getting Vincent Chase's sloppy seconds
No longer Vince's driver or Jamie Lynn-Sigler's boyfriend, Turtle aspires to be a legitimate businessman, coming up with a plan and everything. He ends up involved with a tequila brand, Avión, run by a Mexican supplier named Carlos and his daughter, Alex, who Turtle begins a relationship with. Turtle is quite nervous as he believes Alex's family is involved with the Mexican cartel. This is proven to be true when Carlos threatens Turtle will "disappear" if he doesn't get Mark Cuban on board by a certain deadline. Cuban gets on board with the tequila project, but Turtle is kidnapped anyway to his certain death as Carlos believes he knows too much about their criminal involvement, as Alex confessed to Turtle about earlier; Drama spends a couple of episodes trying to find Turtle, even traveling to Mexico but to no avail
Drama's animated show with Andrew Dice Clay becomes a surprise cult hit, allowing Drama to see the humorous side of himself that he never knew he had. As a result, Drama attracts a younger generation of fans, as it is Adult Swim-esuqe. The show is canceled unexpectedly when Dice quits due to money. Once again having the Hollywood rug pulled from under him and failing to find the missing and presumed dead Turtle, Drama falls into a deep depression after years of hiding his pain and attempts suicide. A call for a supporting role in a huge movie interrupts it, though, and Johnny Drama prepares to audition for the biggest role of his life. Consider this a bit of dark comedy. How this works out is left a cliffhanger as the audition takes place in between seasons.
The season ends with Ari's wife leaving him, despite the efforts he made to be a better husband. About to unravel, Ari has no choice be to dive further into his work to keep his sanity. For once, he actually supresses his emotions. Meanwhile, Vince receives news that he will be released from prison, but the reason is unknown even to him. The final image of S7 is of Vince walking through the prison halls being cheered on as a new but confused man
Vince makes his return to the public eye, with the truth about his drug addiction and brief life of crime coming to light. His release came to be from Kara confessing that she had lied about Vince murdering someone. Seeing that Vince was famous with supposed money, Kara's friends forced her to lure Vince into crime and put this entire scam into motion. At the end of S7, Kara's guilt took over and she spilled beans and is sent to prison alongside her brother and his criminal friends, leaving them to be dealt with by Dom and others. Despite this horrible betrayal, Vince forgives Kara publicly; However, this does leave Vince jaded and doubtful that he'll ever find true love.......until he meets Sophia Lear, a Vanity Fair reporter who wants to do a story of Vince's comeback. This is a slow burn as Vince is hesitant to get hurt again and Sophia is simply not interested, as Chase's movie star charm doesn't work on her even though she cares about his well-being. At the end of the season, Sophia officially rejects Vince but offers to stay in touch after the story drops, giving Vince some more humble pie and something to chase romantically in the future. Sophia appears to be the perfect match to Vince, completely opposite of the usual type of women Chase gets as she's super smart and honest, willing to call Vince out on his shit and unafraid to verbally confront anyone
Despite his passion for acting revitalized and becoming a better person overall, no one in Hollywood wants to take a chance and work with Vince on based on the reputation he has amassed over the years except Ari, who is the closest thing Vince has to a father figure. For some time, Vince struggles to get work (birthday parties, autograph signings and disappointingly attended public appearances are the best that can be done) while trying to apologize to those he wronged (his mother, Drama, celebrities like LeBron James, Bono, Eminem, Sasha Grey, Scorsese and the Smoke Jumpers director) in the past and overcome temptations to go back to drugs in the Hollywood party scene, specifically from E's rival at Murray, Scott Lavin, who is slimy enough to want to sign Vince. In a weird roundabout way, Vince ends up living under Drama just like when he first arrived to the West Coast years ago as his career began. A weird reversal of fate from how the brotherly dynamic used to be with Vince supporting Johnny
Ari attempts to win back his wife, but is rejected before giving up to give her some space. Divorce proceedings presume and custody of his children are negotiated during the season, with Mrs. Ari winning out. Ari is knocked out of his slump when the help of his ex, Dana Gordon (his main inside connection to studios) and they pick up where they left off before Ari got married
E continues to rise as an agent, but we notice him becoming more like Ari: ruthless, abrasive, obsessive, willing to lie to his clients so he gets want he wants. Sloan attempts to reconnect but E's vindictiveness comes out as he flaunts a new girlfriend in front of her. While gaining more power at Murray, E is starting to turn into another person. Ari sits down and has an intervention with E, pleading him not to make the same mistakes he did, citing how Mrs. Ari and his kids left him as karma for the horrible way he treated people over the years along with being unhappy overall. After some soul searching, E gets back together with Sloan but refuses to see Vince, not buying that he's turned a new leaf
Drama is shown working on set for his supporting role (he shockingly beat out bigger, veteran stars for it like Jeffery Tambor, Christian Slater, Tom Sizemore, David Spade, Kim Coates, Jamie Kennedy, Dean Cain and John frickin' Stamos) in a Oscar-worthy film and receives praise by those on set, but has feelings of self-doubt about whether or not he belongs in the upper echelon of Hollywood. His buzz-worthy performance gets compared to the comebacks of Robert Downey in Iron Man and Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, resulting in an Oscar nomination, but he is still a huge underdog as his star is not necessarily big
The season and series culminates at The Oscars, where the entire crew (except Turtle, who is still missing and presumed dead) comes to support Drama. Vince (who instead of bringing a model as a date like old times, brings his mother Rita, swearing off womanizing for good) and E try to avoid each other (both Rita and Sloan force them to sit next to each other) but hug when Drama wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, finally getting his due after years of being told he wasn't good enough. To make things better, Drama lets Vince know that he made a bet with an exec that if he won, Vince would get a role in Drama's next film. This is important as a recurring theme in Entourage was Vince getting Drama roles in his films but now the opposite is happening
The final scene in Entourage takes place at a private airport, where Drama is set to go to Italy for a bigger role (let's say it's the second lead in a mob crime thriller, I don't know) than the last and is taking Vince with him to start his comeback. Ari cannot go as he is finalizing his divorce and spending time with Dana. E and Sloan are hanging back to start a family and finally get married. Suddenly, Turtle shows up in a fancy suit with Alex, revealing that all is well. Mark Cuban invested in the tequila project and Alex's father was testing Turtle's loyalty (not running away from Alex after learning about her family's dark secret) to his daughter all along in Mexico, where he's been for the past year. Oh, and by the way, Turtle is now a millionaire. We get a big group hug with the main characters before The Chase Brothers board their plane. The season and series comes to a shocking cliffhanger as the plane crashes and the final image we see is of E, Ari and Turtle running towards to wreckage
Entourage: The Movie (Renamed The Gold Standard)
First, hats off if you've read all the way to here so far. Relax, it's almost over. The movie's plot won't be changed too much, just being told from 100% Ari's perspective as he is the main character and the Entourage guys (or what's left of them) are bit players
The film begins with Ari living with Dana, reading a newspaper letting us know it's the 3 year anniversary of the infamous Chase Brothers plane crash. This ruins Ari's morning along with getting into an argument about marriage, as both are too involved with their careers for that and children. They basically agree but are too headstrong to realize it. A sub-plot is Ari and Dana being in contention to be the Warner Bros studio head, which is something Ari's been working towards his entire career. Throughout the film, we get hints from other execs that Ari is the frontrunner as Hollywood is still a boys' club
Ari later picks up his kids for the weekend and bumps into his wife, now named Melissa as we only knew her as Mrs. Ari during the series. The two share a moment, hinting that maybe they want to get back together as the divorce process has been dragged out for so long with old wombs healed
To go with the original plot, Ari must contend Texan co-financiers (played by Billy Bob Thornton as Larsen and Haley Joel Osment as Travis) of an important passion film starring a super important client of Ari's. They are being extremely difficult as the son (Osment as Travis) begins threatening Ari that he will convince his father (Thornton as Larsen) to pull out if Ari doesn't give into his personal demands. These include going to the wildest Hollywood parties (which Ari must attend with Travis), meeting with celebrities to further Travis' own Hollywood ambitions and hooking Travis up with his crush, Emily Ratajkowksi, who is dating someone else). In the process, Ari is pulled thin in having to get drunk, take drugs and do whatever this spoiled brat wants to save the movie. It's not like Ari hasn't done this before, but that was when was an agent, had less respect for his responsibilities like a fiance, kids and a agency/studio to run and simply a younger man
The main theme of the film will be an older man trying to make it in a more modern world than he remembers and trying to balance that with his personal life. Throughout, he'll see Ari's reputation as an abrasive, sexist asshole precede him when the likes of Ronda Rousey, TI, Mike Tyson, Tom Brady, Mark Wahlberg and Jessica Alba encounter him. Which means yes, Ari (instead of Turtle like in the actual movie) must last 30 seconds inside the octagon with Rousey before she agrees to sign with him. Speaking of Turtle, his wealth and business grows as he tries to buy a sports team (The Yankees aren't on the market so an LA NFL team will do) at the behest of his new best friend, Mark Cuban
The story with Travis and Larsen comes to a head when Ari decides he's had enough and spills the beans on Travis' plans, being that he didn't care about his father wanting to finance the movie and really just used the opportunity to worm his way into Hollywood on his own. Larsen sees his son for the brat he is and willingly bows out of the project but apologizes to Ari for the stress he's been put through. This leaves Ari in a tough spot as the film project is basically dead now. We'll get to that later
Things with Dana go south when Ari and his ex-wife Melissa rekindle their romance, leaving Ari stuck with a tough decision. Eventually, he decides (or more rather convinces his almost ex-wife) that Melissa is the one and they get back together. He thanks Dana for helping him get back on his feet and declines the offer to be studio head of Warner Bros and recommends that Dana get the job. We find out that it didn't really matter as Dana was the frontrunner the whole time anyways, ruling out the sexism angle. Ari decides to retire so he can be with his family
The final scene of the film happens to be the wedding of E and Sloan, bringing all the old Entourage guys back, including Vince and Drama, who did not die in the crash, but Drama did get his wish of having headlines say "The Chase Brothers" instead of "Vincent Chase..........and brother". Both are now A-list movie stars as Vince has almost completed his comeback, just needing one more good performance in his next project
The mystery star of the film Ari tried to save was Vince (also Emily Ratajkowski's steady boyfriend who Travis wanted to fight but Ari kept leading up away from) all along and he helps Ari out by deciding use his own money to fund it. E, who is now Vince's agent officially, will be co-producer with Vince. And Billy Walsh, the director of Medellin, will be brought on as director. So, essentially the same crew to gave the world the bomb that was Medellin will be running Vince's next film. A big risk for sure, but the Entourage crew is much stronger and focused than it was back then. During the wedding reception, Sloan announces that she is pregnant with E's child and Drama yells his signature "VICTORY!!!" catchphrase before a group hug
We end things as E and Sloan drive off in the trademark 1965 Lincoln Continental seen from Entourage's opening that we saw for years. Vince catches a limo with Emily, Drama stays right where he is to hit on the bridesmaids as the ceremony happened at his place but Turtle leaves in a damn helicopter, causing all the women to ditch Drama, only for Turtle's now wife and baby mama Alex (they got a couple of kids) chasing them out and back to Johnny's arms. Drama then yells "VICTORY!!!" again with about a dozen of hotties around him. And Ari walks away hand-in-hand with his wife and kids. Vince rides past in a limo (presumably to the airport to fly to England in an effort to romance Sophia Lear once and for all) and offers the Gold family a ride but Ari respectfully decline. Ari and Vince share a very nice moment before the limo speeds away and Ari smiles at his family, as all the main characters have gone their separate ways to show how far they've come

Backstory: In 2001, Jeff Probst wrote and directed a movie called "Finder's Fee' that stars Ryan Reynolds, James Earl Jones, and Matthew Lillard, amongst others. I'm not sure if it was ever in theaters, but it actual has decent reviews. It's not a great film, but it's definitely watchable. Anyway, in 2012 it was announced that Probst was filming a new movie entitled "Kiss Me.' It was written by Liz Sarnoff, who wrote a bunch of classic Lost episodes (Deadwood eps, too) and stars Missy Pyle, Jenna Fischer, Rita Wilson (Tom Hanks' wife) and Emily Osment. I'd never heard of Osment, but she was on Hannah Montana and has over 3.6 million twitter followers. The film was wrapped in February 2012, according to a bunch of the actors tweets and Probst mentioned editing it in the summer of 2012. Since then, there has been basically no mention of the movie from Probst, though a few actors asked him about its status on Twitter. In Sept. 2013, someone posted the trailer for the movie online and it has accumulated 4.5 million views. This Emily Osment appears to have a serious enough fanbase for it to be worth releasing the movie, on her merits alone. Does anyone have any further insight? I think if a few of us tweet at Probst we could get an answer. Edit- changed a date
A mini-comic by Kris Mukai called Commuter. She does such lovely, charming, funny work. - Emily Carroll's "Through the Woods" will creep you the fuck out in the best way, it's the new Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. - Jillian and Mariko Tamaki's "This One Summer" is perfect from start to finish. I cried and read it twice. - Eleanor Davis's "How to be Happy." How to be happy is: read this book. - some online comics by Lizz Hickey, I love everything she does: Link to lizzhickey.tumblr.co - Michael Deforge is ALWAYS great and there's a lot of work to choose from. The prose is as good as the drawings are surreal.
For BoJack's specific design, we knew he should be wearing a weird sweater (he's just slightly inspired by Ben Stiller's character in Greenberg) and he should look cranky. His color and markings are the same as a real-life horse I used to ride/lease when I was 14, Tony the Pony.
Don't worry about whether you're good enough, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm still learning and improving. Just go, share a table with a friend if you can, wander around a tiny bit and pick up some other comics and introduce yourself to some people. Conventions are weird but also really great. You'll have a blast.
I really loved our expert Dustin Dumps (John Milhiser) in ep 71. Just thinking about him is making me laugh.
Karen Kilgariff played us a song on her guitar in ep 68 that was MAGICAL.
Eliza Skinner and Ron Babcock have been guests on recent eps and both of them really impressed me with how much HISTORY they know. They're like walking encyclopedias. Guy Branum is another one of those. He just blew our minds when he came on the show to tell us why Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a hero.
I hung out with Julie at a dog park once and she kept pointing to different dogs and describing what kind of human they looked like, and her description was so dead-on and perfect every time, I was in stitches. She's honest, generous, and so funny it's frightening. She "gets it."
My fave characters to design were Quentin Tarantulino, Charlotte, the frogs (Charley/Mr Witherspoon), Virgil Van Cleef, Bob Maggot and Vincent Adultman! ;)
Hi! I listen to tons of podcasts. Right now I'm really into: How Was Your Week, Savage Lovecast, The Indoor Kids, My Brother My Brother and Me, and I just started listening to Lady to Lady and it's hilarious.
Make the podcast that YOU would want to listen to. What are you interested in? What makes you laugh? I'd start there and then it's just a matter of getting more comfy with yakkin' into a mic!
I have so many favorites that my head starts to spin when I try to pick! but recently, on ep 70, we had Kelli Karsten on to talk about how she lives on a circus train and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. She's incredible.
My boyfriend Adam met Emily while doing stand-up comedy in NYC and he introduced us! I liked how funny, confident, non-judgmental and into gross body humor she was!
One day, very early in our friendship, Emily mentioned that she used to host a radio show in SF and missed doing it. So I said "you should start a new show!" and she said "wanna host one with me?" and the rest is HISTORIA!!
A few days ago I ate an entire Reese's pieces candy bar, and I was combining each square of candy with a spoonful of real peanut butter because the pb/choc ratio didn't seem correct and I like to hack my snacks.
I'm on a cowboy kick, so I recently read Blood Meridian and Lonesome Dove. Two VERY different Westerns. I also read a really great comic book: Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley!! And a really incredible non-fiction book about North Korea: Nothing to Envy
